Who we are

There is a crisis in American education. The current educational establishment in the United States will either continue on its current trajectory or–through intentionality and the resolve of educational entrepreneurs–return to its roots of cultivating classically educated, patriotic citizens. The American Classical Lyceum (Lyceum) seeks a new birth of freedom in American education by educating and empowering future generations in an American Classical Leadership Education®.

There is a strong desire amongst families across this nation to provide a classical liberal arts education to their children.  The demand far exceeds the availability of teachers trained in the classics.  The American Classical Lyceum was created in an effort to solve this problem by providing resources to adult learners and educational entrepreneurs associated with K-12 education across the nation. The Lyceum provides opportunities for educational entrepreneurs to replicate the highly successful American Classical Leadership Education® model implemented by John Adams Academies, Inc.

As a true local institution–one of the “little platoons,” as Edmund Burke called them–the Lyceum will help foster self-governance amongst America’s citizens and promote the common good by empowering adults at the grassroots to implement a truly American classical education with their own K-12 students. Inspired by the mid-19th century American Lyceum movement, we will provide a modern-day lyceum for adults, cultivating classical K-12 educators, administrators, and parents with an emphasis on John Adams Academy’s distinctive mission and academic model (as referenced above).

Our Principal Initiatives

  • Expanding Classical Education

We empower parents and non-profit organizations to participate in John Adams Academy® K-12 education programs or start their own John Adams Academy® schools, expanding access to American Classical Leadership Education®.

  • Developing Educators & Leaders

We design and implement academic programs in classical pedagogy, curriculum, and leadership to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to inspire future generations, just as America’s founders were taught.

  • Advancing Post-Secondary Pathways

We offer John Adams Academy® scholars a path to post-secondary classical education, preparing them to teach future generations. High school students can also earn liberal arts credits through concurrent enrollment.

  • Mentoring Parents as Educators

We encourage John Adams Academy® parents to continue their own education, deepening their understanding of classical learning. By doing so, they strengthen their role as mentors, fostering a rich educational experience for their children.

  • Launching & Supporting New Schools

We train teachers and administrators to lead new John Adams Academy® schools opening in 2025 and 2026. Through specialized courses in classical pedagogy and curriculum mastery, we ensure educators are equipped to sustain and expand our classical education model.
